Are you an experienced Structural Steel Estimator looking for your next opportunity in London?

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established structural steel business working on a range of projects, where you will play a key role in pricing and securing new work.

The role would suit an Estimator who understands structural steel from a commercial and technical perspective and is confident taking an enquiry from the initial tender stage through to final submission.

The Role

As a Structural Steel Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate, commercially competitive estimates for structural steel projects.

You will work closely with clients, contractors, suppliers and internal teams to ensure tenders are accurately priced, commercially viable and submitted within the required deadlines.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Reviewing incoming tender enquiries and project requirements
• Analysing structural drawings, specifications and scopes of work
• Preparing detailed estimates and quotations
• Calculating quantities for structural steelwork
• Pricing materials, fabrication, labour and installation
• Obtaining and assessing supplier and subcontractor quotations
• Identifying exclusions, assumptions and potential project risks
• Liaising with clients and contractors to clarify tender requirements
• Working closely with engineering, project management, procurement and commercial teams
• Ensuring tenders are accurate and submitted within deadlines
• Supporting the business in securing profitable structural steel projects
• Maintaining accurate estimating records
• Supporting post-tender reviews and lessons learned

What They're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have previous experience within structural steel estimating and a strong understanding of how steelwork projects are fabricated, supplied and erected.

You'll ideally have:

• Previous structural steel estimating experience
• Experience pricing fabricated and erected steelwork
• The ability to read and interpret structural drawings
• A strong understanding of fabrication processes and steelwork quantities
• Experience preparing tenders from initial enquiry through to submission
• Good commercial awareness and numerical ability
• The ability to identify project risks, exclusions and potential additional costs
• Experience dealing with suppliers, subcontractors and clients
• Strong attention to detail
• The ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines at the same time
