Assistant Project Manager - Structural Steel

An established structural steel contractor with a strong presence across the United States is looking to add an Assistant Project Manager to its team.
The company has over 50 years of industry experience and delivers structural steel projects across the commercial, industrial and infrastructure sectors.

🚀 What You'll Be Doing
As an Assistant Project Manager, you will support the management of steel erection and fabrication projects, including:
- Reviewing project drawings, blueprints, specifications and contract documentation.
- Coordinating equipment and material requirements.
- Setting up projects within project management software.
- Coordinating with field operations.
- Preparing purchase orders and subcontracts.
- Meeting regularly with clients and operations teams.
- Monitoring project costs and productivity.
- Preparing productivity reports and financial projections.
- Assisting with project billings alongside administration.
- Building relationships with clients, vendors and partners.
- Supporting multiple steel erection and fabrication projects simultaneously.
✅ What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- A minimum of 3 years' commercial construction Project Management experience.
- An understanding of structural steel fabrication or erection.
- The ability to read and interpret construction documents.
- Bluebeam proficiency.
- MS Office Suite proficiency.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- The ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
A four-year degree in Construction Management or Engineering is preferred, although other degrees will be considered alongside relevant industry experience.
Structural steel experience is preferred but not essential. Candidates from General Contractor and Specialty Contractor backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Experience with On-Screen Takeoff (OST) is also preferred.
