Are you an experienced Structural Steel Estimator looking for your next opportunity in Wexford?

The role would suit an Estimator who enjoys the commercial side of structural steel and wants to be involved throughout the tender process, from the initial enquiry and take-off through to submission and project handover.

The Role

As a Structural Steel Estimator, you will play a key role in securing new projects by producing accurate, competitive and commercially viable estimates for structural steel fabrication and erection.

You'll work closely with clients, engineers, architects, suppliers and the internal project delivery team to understand project requirements, identify potential risks and ensure tenders are accurately priced.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing accurate and competitive estimates for structural steel fabrication and erection projects
• Reviewing architectural and structural drawings, fabrication drawings and specifications
• Analysing tender documentation and identifying project scope, risks and opportunities
• Completing detailed material take-offs and preparing material schedules
• Obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations
• Liaising with engineers, project managers and clients throughout the tender process
• Preparing detailed tender submissions within strict deadlines
• Attending pre-tender and post-tender meetings where required
• Supporting value engineering exercises and identifying commercially viable solutions
• Maintaining accurate estimating, pricing and tender records
• Supporting the commercial team with project handovers following successful awards
• Monitoring material pricing and market conditions to ensure competitive submissions

What They're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have previous experience estimating structural steel fabrication and erection projects, with a strong understanding of how steelwork is designed, fabricated and installed.

You'll ideally have:

• Previous structural steel estimating experience
• Experience within structural steel or an associated construction environment
• Strong ability to read and interpret structural steel drawings and engineering documentation
• Experience preparing detailed tenders and cost estimates
• Good commercial awareness
• Strong analytical, numerical and organisational skills
• Excellent Excel and Microsoft Office skills
• The ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A full driving licence
• Eligibility to work in Ireland

Desirable Experience

The following would also be advantageous:

• Experience using estimating software
• Knowledge of structural steel fabrication processes
• Understanding of steel erection methodologies
• Knowledge of procurement and the structural steel supply chain
• Experience working with BIM or Tekla drawings
• A third-level qualification in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline
