The Opportunity

Some of Ireland's most complex commercial, pharmaceutical, industrial and data centre projects all start with an accurate estimate.

With a growing pipeline of structural steelwork projects across Ireland and the UK, this established steel contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Structural Steel Estimator to join its commercial team.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in securing new business by producing accurate, commercially competitive tenders while working alongside experienced engineers, project managers and fabrication teams. The Role

You will:

• Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for structural steel fabrication and erection projects.
• Review structural, architectural and fabrication drawings together with project specifications.
• Analyse tender documentation, identify project scope, risks and opportunities.
• Produce detailed material take-offs, schedules and cost estimates.
• Obtain, assess and negotiate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Liaise with engineers, project managers and clients throughout the tender process.
• Prepare detailed tender submissions within strict deadlines.
• Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings where required.
• Assist with value engineering to develop commercially competitive solutions.
• Maintain accurate estimating records, pricing information and tender documentation.
• Support commercial handovers following successful project awards.
• Monitor market trends and material pricing to ensure competitive submissions.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Previous experience estimating structural steel fabrication projects.
• Experience within the structural steel or wider construction industry.
• Strong understanding of structural steel drawings and engineering documentation.
• Proven experience preparing successful tender submissions.
• Excellent analytical, numerical and commercial skills.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Full driving licence.
• Eligibility to work in Ireland.

Desirable:

• Experience using estimating software.
• Knowledge of structural steel fabrication processes and erection methodologies.
• Understanding of procurement and supply chain management.
• Experience working with BIM or Tekla drawings.
• Third-level qualification in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
