🏗️ Site Manager - Structural Steel
Manage the project. Not the manpower.
I'm recruiting a Site Manager for a major structural steel fabricator with a strong pipeline of large-scale projects across the U.S.
This is essentially a site-based fabrication representative role.
You're not there to run ironworkers, manage crews or own the erector's manpower. You're there to represent the fabricator and make sure the steel, deliveries, sequencing, field fixes and project issues are handled properly.
💰 The Package & Travel Structure
* Base salary up to approximately $130,000
* Approximately $450/week covering vehicle allowance and food
* Travel, hotels and accommodation arranged and paid separately by the company
* Realistic total package of approximately $153,000-$155,000
* Current projects predominantly in the Central and Eastern time zones
* Projects typically last 16-24 weeks, so you're not constantly moving between short assignments
* Employees are generally able to travel home every two weeks
The role is nationwide, so permanent work within one region can't be guaranteed. However, the company will generally try to keep people within their preferred time zone when project availability allows.
🔧 What You'll Be Doing
* Representing the fabricator on major project sites
* Coordinating with third-party steel erectors and General Contractors
* Managing steel deliveries and erection sequencing
* Investigating fabrication, erection, design and field issues
* Reading drawings and coordinating field fixes
* Attending daily site meetings
* Communicating issues back to Project Managers and fabrication teams
* Identifying problems early and keeping erection moving
👷 Who They're Looking For
* Strong structural steel erection/field background
* Superintendent, General Foreman or similar field leadership experience
* Strong understanding of structural steel installation
* Able to read drawings and troubleshoot field issues
* Comfortable working with GCs, erectors and project teams
* Strong communicator and problem solver
* Comfortable with a nationwide travel role
Projects include data centers, steel mills, industrial facilities, warehouses and major commercial developments, with individual projects ranging from approximately 4,000 to 80,000 tons.
This could be a great next step for an experienced Steel Erection Superintendent who still wants to be involved with major projects in the field, but wants to move away from the daily pressure of directly managing manpower.
