Rate: £500 per day (Inside IR35)

Are you an experienced finance professional ready to play a pivotal role in shaping financial strategy and supporting key services in local government?

We're looking for a Senior Finance Business Partner to join the London Borough of Sutton's Shared Finance Service on an interim basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to provide high-impact financial business partnering support to the Place Directorate, acting as a critical friend and trusted advisor during a time of strategic importance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver expert financial advice across revenue and capital budgets.

  • Support core financial processes: budget setting, monitoring, and year-end.

  • Analyse financial performance and provide insight to support decision-making.

  • Help manage financial risk and promote financial sustainability.

  • Work collaboratively with service leads, strategic partners, and other public bodies (e.g. NHS, TfL).

  • Assist with the Better Care Fund and other shared financial arrangements, if relevant.

About You:

  • Part-qualified CCAB accountant or equivalent experience operating at this level.

  • Proven experience in large organisations, ideally within local government.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Strong analytical and IT skills, including use of finance and reporting systems.

  • Ability to influence decision-making, challenge constructively, and drive improvements.

Desirable:

  • Full CCAB qualification or actively studying.

  • Experience supporting transformation/change programmes.

  • Knowledge of pooled budgets or cost-sharing arrangements.
