Are you an experienced Senior Estimator with a strong structural steel background looking for your next permanent opportunity?

This is a chance to join an established structural steel contractor delivering major projects across Ireland, the UK and Europe, including work within the pharmaceutical and blue-chip sectors.

The role would suit an experienced estimator who understands the full process behind a structural steel project, from reviewing drawings and specifications through to fabrication, erection, pricing and commercial handover.

The Role

As Senior Estimator, you'll take responsibility for preparing accurate, competitive tenders for medium to large-scale structural steel projects.

You'll work closely with clients, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors and internal project teams to understand the scope of each opportunity, develop pricing and ensure tenders are both commercially competitive and technically accurate.

You'll also play an important role in supporting and mentoring junior members of the estimating team.

What You'll Be Doing

• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for structural steel projects.
• Review tender documentation, drawings and specifications.
• Understand project scope, quantities, materials, fabrication and erection requirements.
• Obtain and assess pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, architects and other stakeholders to clarify requirements.
• Develop competitive pricing strategies based on project requirements and market conditions.
• Consider current steel pricing, project risks and commercial requirements when preparing tenders.
• Prepare tender submissions, cost reports and bid clarifications.
• Ensure all technical and commercial information is accurately included within submissions.
• Work closely with Contracts and Project Management teams following successful tenders.
• Ensure a smooth handover from estimating through to project delivery.
• Keep up to date with structural steel fabrication and erection methods, industry standards and market conditions.
• Support and mentor junior estimators within the team.

About You

This isn't simply a general construction estimating position.

We're looking for someone with genuine structural steel estimating experience who understands how steel projects are priced and delivered from a technical, fabrication and erection perspective.

You'll ideally have:

• 5+ years' experience in structural steel estimating in Ireland.
• Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication and erection.
• Experience pricing medium to large-scale structural steel projects.
• The ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Strong understanding of materials, quantities, fabrication requirements and site erection.
• Experience managing multiple tenders and working to tight deadlines.
• Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of tender risk.
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Experience using relevant estimating software and Microsoft Office.
• The confidence to work independently while also contributing to a wider commercial/project team.
• The ability and experience to support and mentor junior estimators.
