Sales & Estimating Manager - Structural Steel / Metal Fabrication
Location: M25 Corridor / London | Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 DOE + Company Car or Car Allowance | Permanent Role
A leading structural steel and metal fabrication business is seeking an experienced Sales & Estimating Manager to join its growing team. This role is suited to someone based around the M25 corridor with easy access to London, as travel into London will be required 2-3 days per week. With a strong pipeline of work and continued growth, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced sales and estimating professional with a background in structural steel or metal fabrication.
What you'll do:
- Lead both the sales and estimating process from enquiry through to conversion
- Generate, develop and convert new business opportunities
- Manage all incoming enquiries and prioritise opportunities effectively
- Liaise and negotiate with subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing
- Personally convert a minimum of three enquiries per week
- Support the estimating team in achieving individual and team targets
- Build strong relationships with contractors, engineers, architects, consultants and clients
- Produce weekly pipeline and enquiry status reports
- Attend pre-tender interviews and post-tender presentations
- Review team performance and provide coaching and feedback
- Identify value engineering opportunities and practical solutions
- Ensure estimates are accurate, commercially viable and delivered within agreed margins
You'll need:
- Previous sales and estimating experience within structural steel or metal fabrication
- Strong understanding of building construction, structural and civil engineering
- Experience pricing projects from 50 to 3,000 tonnes
- Proven ability to achieve sales targets and convert enquiries into orders
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of costing processes
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately
- Experience reviewing Tekla models would be advantageous
- Excellent communication, organisational and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work on your own initiative
- Line management experience
- Strong Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project skills
- BSc or HNC in Building Studies or similar preferred
- MCIOB or RICS accreditation would be advantageous
