Rate: £18 per hour (Umbrella)
Hours: 37 hours per week (Mon-Fri)
Contract: 16 weeks (approx. 4 months)

Swale and Maidstone Borough Council are looking for a proactive and customer-focused Revenues & Benefits Advisor to join the frontline contact centre team, providing essential support to residents with Council Tax and Housing Benefit enquiries.

Key Responsibilities
Respond to inbound calls relating to Council Tax and Housing Benefit
Set up and amend Council Tax accounts and payment plans
Promote and support online self-service tools and eBilling
Handle direct debit setups, take payments, and issue copy bills
Update customer records and maintain data accuracy
Assist vulnerable residents with claims and enquiries
Identify potential fraud and follow correct referral procedures
Work within data protection and confidentiality guidelines
Requirements
Experience in a telephony-based customer service environment
Knowledge of Revenues & Benefits, including Council Tax and Housing Benefit
Familiarity with systems such as Academy/NEC or similar
Strong communication, listening, and data entry skills
Ability to deal sensitively with vulnerable or distressed customers
Understanding of data protection and confidentiality practices
