Quantity Surveyor - Structural Steel

The Company
The steelwork behind major commercial, industrial, residential and infrastructure projects starts long before the first piece of steel reaches site.
This established structural steel fabrication business delivers projects across Ireland and into export markets, with a strong pipeline of secured and repeat work.
They are now looking for a Quantity Surveyor who understands structural steel and can take ownership of the commercial side of projects from the early stages of a contract through to final account.
The Role
This is a senior commercial position where you will have a direct influence on project profitability and financial performance.
You will:
- Own the commercial and financial management of structural steel projects from pre-contract through to final account.
- Monitor project costs, budgets and cash flow, providing clear financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage valuations, variations and applications for payment while protecting the commercial position of each project.
- Administer contracts and ensure contractual obligations are understood and maintained.
- Negotiate with clients and subcontractors to protect margins and maximise project returns.
- Work closely with estimating, design, project management and site teams to keep the commercial and operational sides of projects aligned.
What They're Looking For
You should have:
- Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within structural steel, steel fabrication or a closely related construction environment.
- A strong understanding of steel fabrication, detailing and erection.
- Experience managing valuations, variations and full project cost control.
- The ability to interpret technical drawings and contract documentation.
- Strong commercial judgement and negotiation skills.
- Experience managing multiple high-value projects at the same time.
- A relevant Quantity Surveying or Construction qualification would be advantageous.
