This is an opportunity to join a growing structural steel contractor delivering a diverse range of fabrication and construction projects across the UK. With a healthy pipeline of work and continued investment in the business, they're looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to become a key part of their commercial team.
You'll work alongside project managers, clients and subcontractors, helping ensure projects are delivered commercially as well as technically.
The Role
You'll play a key role in the commercial success of structural steel projects by:
- Managing project costs from contract award through to final account.
- Preparing valuations, cost reports and managing contract variations.
- Working closely with project teams to monitor budgets and maximise project profitability.
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation to identify commercial opportunities and risks.
- Supporting procurement activities and subcontractor negotiations.
- Building strong relationships with clients, suppliers and project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
This is a varied role where your commercial expertise will directly influence the success of multiple live projects.
What You'll Need
Essential
- Previous Quantity Surveying experience within structural steel, heavy fabrication or construction.
- Strong knowledge of cost management, procurement and contract administration.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and project specifications.
- Excellent commercial awareness with strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Confident communication skills and the ability to build relationships with clients and subcontractors.
Desirable
- Experience using Quantity Surveying software such as CostX, Estimator or similar.
- Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
- Experience working on structural steel fabrication projects.
