About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Qualified Social Worker to join our Children & Court Team. The successful candidate will work with children, young people, and families involved in child protection and court proceedings, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children while achieving positive long-term outcomes.

This role requires strong assessment, analytical, and court-report writing skills, alongside the ability to manage complex caseloads and work collaboratively with multi-agency professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of children and families involved in child protection, care proceedings, and court work.
  • Undertake statutory assessments, risk assessments, and care planning in accordance with legislation and local authority procedures.
  • Prepare high-quality court statements, reports, and care plans within required timescales.
  • Attend court hearings and provide professional evidence when required.
  • Work directly with children and families to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain effective partnerships with schools, health professionals, police, legal representatives, and other agencies.
  • Ensure children's voices are heard and considered in all assessments and plans.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and up-to-date case recordings.
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, and training to support continuous professional development.

Essential Requirements

  • Social Work qualification (Degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW, or equivalent).
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Significant post-qualified experience working with children and families.
  • Proven experience in court work, including preparing statements and attending hearings.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and safeguarding procedures.
  • Ability to manage complex and high-risk cases effectively.
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience within Children in Need, Child Protection, or Looked After Children services.
  • Knowledge of care proceedings and permanency planning.
  • Experience using local authority case management systems.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
