Job Title: Project Quality Lead - CWI Inspector

Location: Texas (Project-Based Assignment)

Salary: $50/hour + Per Diem W2 Contract

Day to Day

Smith Industries is seeking an experienced Project Quality Lead - CWI Inspector for a 3-6 month assignment. This is a Monday-Friday position requiring approximately 50-55 hours per week.

You will lead project quality activities and ensure welding and fabrication work meets applicable ASME codes and project requirements.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing visual and final weld inspections in accordance with applicable ASME codes
  • Leading project quality activities and supporting day-to-day quality operations
  • Reviewing WPSs, PQRs, and welder qualification records for compliance
  • Inspecting fit-up, dimensions, and weld quality before and after welding
  • Preparing, reviewing, and maintaining inspection reports, NCRs, and quality records
  • Working closely with fabrication, production, and client representatives to resolve quality issues
  • Supporting final documentation packages and project turnover

Requirements

  • Current AWS CWI certification - required
  • 10+ years of welding inspection or quality experience
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable ASME codes and standards
  • Experience performing visual and final inspections in a fabrication or project environment
  • Ability to work Monday-Friday, 50-55 hours per week for the duration of the assignment
  • Strong documentation, reporting, and communication skills

Preferred:

  • Previous experience as a Quality Lead or Quality Supervisor
  • NDE experience or familiarity with UT, RT, MT, and PT; ASNT Level II is a plus
  • Experience working with pressure vessels
