The Role:
We are seeking a skilled Painter and Decorator to join our Operational Support team. In this role, you will carry out repairs and maintenance to Council-owned, private, tenanted, and empty properties, as well as other Authority-owned buildings. You will work in a multi-skilled environment, delivering high-quality workmanship and exceptional customer service.
- Carry out painter and decorator repairs and general maintenance across a variety of properties.
- Diagnose remedial works, organise materials, and complete jobs on the first visit wherever possible.
- Minimise disruption and ensure properties are left clean and tidy, including waste removal.
- Undertake additional maintenance work in other trade areas if competent.
- Assist with end-of-year stocktaking, Portable Appliance Testing, and general Stores operations.
- Operate fleet vehicles and equipment safely, including forklifts and telescopic handlers.
- Report hazards, safeguarding concerns, and tenancy breaches identified during daily work.
- Complete accurate written and electronic records for jobs, costs, and property information.
The Candidate:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively in a team.
- Experience in building construction, repairs, and maintenance.
- Experience dealing with the public and external agencies.
- City & Guilds NVQ Level 2 (Painting) or equivalent.
- Current valid driving licence.
- Multi-skilled tradesperson qualification.
- Counterbalance forklift truck and telescopic handler licence.
- Understanding of Local Authority and Social Housing environments.
