Legal Assistant
Grade: Scale 5
Location: Based across East London borough locations (flexibility required)
We are currently recruiting for a proactive and organised Legal Assistant to support a busy Legal Services function within a shared services environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator with an interest in legal services and public sector work.
The Role
You will provide effective and efficient administrative support to Legal Services, assisting legal professionals in the delivery of high-quality legal advice to internal stakeholders. The role spans multiple legal disciplines and requires flexibility to work across different sites as service demands require.
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive administrative support to Legal Services, including complex tasks with minimal supervision
Support legal officers and wider administrative teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of support services
Maintain and update case management systems, produce reports, and generate standard correspondence
Carry out general office duties including filing, bundling, post handling (including DX), photocopying, and document delivery
Arrange meetings, book rooms and refreshments, and minute meetings as required
Undertake reception duties on a rota basis, dealing professionally with visitors, stakeholders, and members of the public
Support multi-functional and strategic project teams when required
Work occasional evenings, weekends, and public holidays to meet service requirements
About You
Experienced in administrative support, ideally within legal services or a public sector environment
Confident using IT systems including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and case management systems
Organised, resilient, and able to manage competing priorities
A strong communicator with the ability to engage professionally with a wide range of audiences
A team player with a flexible and customer-focused approach
