HSE Manager
Location: Dublin
Salary: Up to £80,000 per annum
Steelwork is only as safe as the systems behind it.
We're looking for an experienced HSE Manager to take ownership of health, safety and environmental performance across both a structural steel fabrication environment and live construction sites.
This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to influence how work is actually carried out - not simply write policies and complete paperwork. You'll work closely with fabrication, erection, cladding, quality and project teams to make sure safe working practices are understood, followed and continuously improved.
You'll have the authority to challenge unsafe practices, stop work where necessary and work directly with leadership to drive meaningful improvements.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Leading HSE performance across fabrication, erection and cladding operations.
Reducing accidents, incidents and high-potential events by identifying and addressing root causes.
Ensuring compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation.
Managing and improving risk assessments, method statements, permits and inspection processes.
Providing practical guidance on high-risk activities including lifting operations, working at height, hot works and workshop activities.
Carrying out site inspections, audits and investigations, ensuring actions are properly closed out.
Delivering inductions, toolbox talks and HSE training to improve hazard awareness and safe behaviours.
Working with supervisors and site teams to identify risks before work begins.
Supporting environmental improvements around waste, coatings, noise, runoff and general site impact.
Producing meaningful HSE reports and providing management with a clear picture of trends, actions and areas of risk.
Working closely with quality and project teams to ensure HSE requirements are built into the way projects are delivered.
Helping develop and strengthen the organisation's existing HSE procedures and culture.
What We're Looking For
You'll need to be someone who can influence people as well as enforce procedures.
Ideally, you will have:
Previous experience leading HSE within structural steel, heavy fabrication, construction or steel erection.
NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification.
Strong knowledge of relevant Irish construction, health & safety and environmental legislation.
Experience carrying out accident/incident investigations and implementing corrective actions.
Strong knowledge of risk assessments, method statements and permit-to-work systems.
Practical experience with working at height, lifting operations, hot works and fabrication environments.
The confidence to challenge unsafe working practices and stop work where required.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with experienced site and workshop teams.
A practical, hands-on approach - you'll be comfortable spending time on the shop floor and visiting live sites rather than operating purely from an office.
What Makes This Role Different?
This isn't a role where HSE sits separately from the operation.
You'll be involved across the full process - from fabrication and workshop activities through to erection and cladding on live sites. Your decisions and recommendations will directly influence how work is planned and delivered.
You'll also have the opportunity to strengthen existing systems, improve environmental performance and help build a culture where safety is part of the way people work, rather than simply another box to tick.
You'll work directly with senior leadership and have the opportunity to make a visible impact across the business.
The Person We're Looking For
You might already be working as an HSE Manager, Health & Safety Manager, HSEQ Manager, SHEQ Manager or Senior HSE Advisor within structural steel, fabrication or construction.
What matters most is that you can demonstrate real-world impact.
Tell us about a time you identified a significant risk, changed the way something was done and what happened as a result.
If you're someone who can improve safety standards without losing the trust of the people actually doing the work, this could be an excellent opportunity.
