An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Homeless & Housing Solutions Officer to join a busy local authority housing service on an interim basis. This role is ideal for a housing professional with strong legislative knowledge and a proactive approach to homelessness prevention.
The Role
You will deliver a high-quality, customer-focused homelessness and housing solutions service, with a strong emphasis on prevention and relief duties. Managing a diverse caseload, you will assess applications, make legally sound decisions, and secure suitable housing outcomes in line with statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Manage homelessness and housing options cases in line with Part VI & VII of the Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017
Carry out detailed assessments and reach robust, defensible decisions
Prevent and relieve homelessness through sustainable housing solutions
Arrange and manage temporary accommodation where required
Produce clear, accurate and legally compliant written decisions and reports
Work collaboratively with internal teams, partner agencies and private landlords
Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with policies and legislation
About You
Demonstrable experience within homelessness or housing options services
In-depth knowledge of housing and homelessness legislation
Confidence managing complex and emotive cases
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment
