The role would suit a commercially aware Estimator who enjoys working with clients, analysing project requirements and preparing accurate and competitive estimates across a varied portfolio of structural steel projects.
The Role
As a Structural Steel Estimator, you will take responsibility for managing enquiries through the estimating and tender process, identifying commercially viable opportunities and preparing detailed estimates for clients.
You'll work closely with clients and teams across the business to ensure tenders are accurately prepared, commercially sound and submitted within the required deadlines.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing the enquiry and tender process from initial receipt through to submission
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and project information
- Identifying commercially viable schemes and tender opportunities
- Preparing detailed estimates and quotations for clients
- Assessing project requirements and associated costs
- Working closely with clients to understand their requirements
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships
- Supporting the development of new client relationships and business opportunities
- Liaising closely with engineering, project management, procurement, commercial and other internal departments
- Ensuring the estimating and tender process runs smoothly
- Managing a varied workload while working to tight deadlines
- Supporting the business in securing profitable structural steel projects
What They're Looking For
The ideal candidate will be commercially aware, customer-focused and confident communicating with both clients and internal teams.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience within an estimating environment
- A practical understanding of the estimating and tender process
- The ability to read and interpret detailed drawings and specifications
- Strong numerical and analytical ability
- Good commercial awareness
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to manage multiple enquiries and deadlines
- A professional and customer-focused approach
- Previous structural steel experience would be highly advantageous
A relevant qualification in a technical, engineering or construction-related discipline would also be beneficial.
The Projects
You'll be joining an established structural steel specialist capable of delivering projects ranging from standard building frames through to complex structural steel structures.
