🏗️ The Company
You'll be joining a northeast‑US steel fabrication group known for heavy steel processing, industrial sandblasting, and complex finishing work. They support manufacturers, utilities, contractors, machinery builders, pharmaceutical firms, and government agencies. One of their sister divisions supplies major transportation and railroad infrastructure - including signal bridges, catenary structures, foundations, walkways, cable trays, safety railing, and bridge beams.
The business is in a growth phase, merging two divisions and preparing for a major project expected to double their backlog.
📐 The Role
You'll be the estimating engine behind a fabrication group handling everything from structural steel to railroad catenary structures. Your work will shape pricing, scheduling, procurement, and customer confidence.
- Prepare cost‑effective estimates across diverse steel fabrication projects.
- Collaborate with engineers and shop foremen to develop quotes and support projects through production.
- Coordinate resource requirements across multiple projects and deadlines.
- Source materials, negotiate pricing, and maintain vendor/subcontractor relationships.
- Generate purchase orders and track deliveries.
- Meet customers to clarify project requirements, prepare RFIs, and align schedules.
🧰 The Candidate
You're an estimator with 3-5 years' experience who thrives in a busy fabrication environment. You're organised, accurate, and confident reading contract drawings and specifications.
Must‑Haves:
- Experience preparing bids for structural steel, bridge work, and railroad‑related fabrication.
- Strong material sourcing and procurement capability.
- Ability to read and interpret contract drawings and project specifications.
- Strong Microsoft Excel, Teams, and Office skills.
- Fully on‑site availability
