Staff BESS Electrical Design Engineer, EPC
California or Nevada | Permanent
Battery Energy Storage Systems are becoming one of the most important parts of modern infrastructure.
As renewable energy, AI, data centres, EVs, domestic manufacturing and grid demand continue to grow, the challenge is no longer just generating power. It is storing it, controlling it and delivering it exactly when it is needed.
We are supporting a major US battery materials and energy storage business that is looking for a Staff BESS Electrical Design Engineer to help design scalable energy storage infrastructure for utility-scale and distributed applications.
This is a senior technical role focused on the full electrical design of BESS projects from concept through construction.
You will be involved in AC and DC electrical systems, MV transformers, inverters, DC combiners, energy managers, battery modules, grounding, raceway plans, protection strategies, interconnection, power studies and complete IFC packages.
Key experience required:
Experience within solar, energy storage, microgrids or renewable energy
At least 3 years focused on BESS design and deployment
Strong understanding of AC and DC BESS electrical systems
Experience with interconnection, utility coordination and regulatory compliance
Knowledge of NEC 705, NEC 706, IEEE 1547, UL 9540 and NFPA 855
Power system modelling using ETAP, SKM or similar
Microgrid or hybrid power system modelling using HOMER or similar would be beneficial
AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks and Bluebeam experience
Professional Engineer licence, or ability to obtain PE in Nevada and South Carolina shortly after starting
This is an opportunity to work on energy storage infrastructure that directly supports grid reliability, renewable integration, peak demand, load shifting and the long-term future of clean energy.
Locations: California or Nevada options available
