This is a key leadership role where you'll guide the drawing office team, drive technical excellence, and play a central part in delivering successful steelwork projects from design through to site.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of steelwork detailers (internal & external)
Oversee all drawing office activities from initial design to issued-for-construction
Review and approve fabrication, GA, assembly, and erection drawings
Ensure drawings meet industry standards (including NSSS) and internal QC processes
Allocate workloads and manage project deadlines effectively
Liaise with project managers, engineers, architects, production, and site teams
Resolve technical queries and design challenges throughout each project
Attend project meetings and occasional site visits
Oversee Tekla Structures usage and maintain document management systems
Requirements:
HNC or higher in Structural/Civil Engineering (or equivalent industry experience)
Minimum 5 years' experience within the UK structural steelwork sector
Strong proficiency with Tekla Structures
Solid knowledge of NSSS and general steelwork standards
Strong communication, coordination, and leadership skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and drive team performance
