Job Title: Experienced Damp Surveyor
Location: Greenwich, London
Salary / Pay Rate: £40 £45 per hour (umbrella)
Job Type: [Full-time/Contract]

The Role:

We are looking for an experienced Damp Surveyor to carry out full property surveys specifically in relation to condensation and damp diagnosis, as well as remedial action. You will be responsible for conducting comprehensive surveys, diagnosing the causes of damp and mould, and specifying the appropriate remedial requirements.

You should have solid scientific knowledge of different types of mould, their causes, and their effects on residents. Additionally, you will need expertise in building structures and how they contribute to damp issues. The role also involves using equipment for diagnostics and seasonal monitoring, creating accurate floor plans, and producing drawings.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Diagnosing and specifying remedial works
  • Using diagnostic equipment and undertaking seasonal monitoring
  • Providing empathetic support to tenants regarding their living conditions
  • Ordering works through appropriate systems and managing tender/contract procedures
  • Supervising works to completion, ensuring compliance with Council Health & Safety standards
  • Conducting post-inspections and ensuring satisfactory completion of works
  • Investigating invoice queries and authorising payments
  • Liaising with external resources through PFI contract partnerships

The Candidate:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Extensive experience as a Damp Surveyor with a strong understanding of building structures and how they contribute to damp issues
  • Scientific knowledge of different types of mould and its effects on residents
  • Ability to use equipment for diagnostics and seasonal monitoring
  • An empathetic approach to tenants and their property conditions
  • Proficiency in creating accurate drawings and floor plans
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage workloads and meet strict deadlines
  • Experience in managing external resources and ensuring best value for clients
  • A working knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and statutory requirements
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively manage external contractors
