Are you an experienced Contracts Manager with a strong structural steel background and looking for your next career move?

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established structural steel business with more than 40 years' experience delivering fabrication and erection projects across Ireland and beyond.

The business works on projects ranging from large commercial developments through to technically demanding structures of up to 2,000 tonnes, making this an opportunity for someone who enjoys working on complex steelwork projects and taking genuine ownership of their contracts.

The Role

As a Contracts Manager, you will take responsibility for the successful delivery of structural steel projects, overseeing site teams, subcontractors, programme, quality, health & safety and commercial performance.

You'll work closely with clients, site teams, subcontractors and senior management to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and within contractual and commercial requirements.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and supervising site foremen, steel erectors and subcontractors
  • Managing subcontractor selection and monitoring on-site progress
  • Ensuring projects maintain the highest standards of quality and health & safety
  • Providing regular updates to senior management on site progress and commercial matters
  • Proactively identifying, assessing and mitigating commercial and contractual risks
  • Ensuring robust site records are maintained for labour, plant, materials, staff and other project resources
  • Maintaining accurate records to support cost substantiation in the event of variations, delays or changes
  • Preparing and managing records for variations and additional works
  • Supporting the preparation and agreement of project final accounts
  • Attending site and project meetings with clients and other stakeholders
  • Ensuring commercial matters are identified, discussed and resolved promptly
  • Working closely with internal teams to ensure projects remain on programme and within budget

Technical Structural Steel Experience

This role would suit someone who has a strong practical understanding of structural steel fabrication and erection.

You'll need to be comfortable interpreting technical drawings and specifications and understanding how steelwork projects are delivered on site.

Experience with software such as:

  • StruMIS
  • AutoCAD
  • Trimble Connect
  • Tekla
  • Other relevant construction or steelwork software

would be advantageous.

What They're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have previous Contracts Management experience, preferably within a structural steel fabrication and erection environment.

You'll ideally have:

  • Minimum 3 years' site experience within structural steel
  • Previous Contracts Management experience
  • Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication and erection
  • Experience managing site teams and subcontractors
  • Experience working across commercial and industrial projects
  • Experience with larger or technically complex steelwork contracts
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications
  • Strong commercial and contractual awareness
  • Experience managing variations, delays and project records
  • Understanding of project final accounts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise work within demanding time, quality and budget constraints
  • Strong organisational and record-keeping skills
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • A conscientious and self-disciplined approach
  • A proactive and driven attitude towards long-term career development

Quality & Compliance

The Projects

You'll be working on a varied portfolio of structural steel projects, including industrial and commercial developments, with the business capable of delivering steelwork packages of up to approximately 2,000 tonnes.
