The Company
The steel leaving this business can weigh up to 2,000 tonnes on a single project. For more than four decades, they have been detailing, fabricating and erecting structural steel across Ireland and the UK, with a reputation built around technically demanding work and exceptionally high standards.
This is an established structural steel business where quality is not simply something written into a policy. They were among the first steelwork companies in Ireland to achieve CE Marking Execution Class 4, followed by ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 accreditation.
They are now looking for an experienced Contracts Manager to take ownership of the delivery and commercial management of live structural steel projects.
The Role
You will sit at the centre of the project, connecting the site teams, subcontractors, management and commercial requirements to make sure projects are delivered safely, correctly and profitably.
You will:
- Own the day-to-day management of site foremen, steel erectors and subcontractors.
- Drive subcontractor performance, site progress and project delivery.
- Monitor commercial and contractual risks, identifying issues before they become problems.
- Maintain robust site records covering labour, plant, materials and delays to support variations and cost recovery.
- Manage variations, additions and contractual documentation through to final account.
- Lead project meetings and make sure commercial and operational issues are identified and resolved.
What They're Looking For
This role is suited to someone who knows structural steel from the site up and understands what it takes to keep a project moving when programme, quality and commercial pressures collide.
You should have:
- At least 3 years' site experience within structural steel.
- Previous Contracts Management experience, ideally with a structural steel fabricator.
- Detailed knowledge of structural steel fabrication and erection.
- Experience across industrial and commercial projects, ideally including high-rise work.
- The ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
- A strong understanding of commercial and contractual processes, including variations and final accounts.
- Knowledge of relevant quality and compliance standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001 and CE Marking.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Useful but not essential: experience with StruMIS, AutoCAD, Trimble Connect, Tekla or similar construction/steelwork software.
