We're working with an established structural steelwork business looking to strengthen its management team with a driven and commercially aware Contracts Manager.
This is an opportunity to oversee projects from a site delivery and contractual perspective, coordinating subcontractors, managing progress and ensuring work is completed safely, to the required quality standards and within agreed budgets.
You'll play a key role in bringing together site teams, subcontractors and internal stakeholders, balancing the practical demands of construction with the commercial responsibilities that come with delivering successful contracts.
What You'll Be Doing
As Contracts Manager, you'll oversee site operations and subcontractor performance while maintaining control of project progress, quality, health and safety, and commercial matters.
Your responsibilities will include:
Managing and supervising site foremen, steel erectors and subcontractors to ensure work is delivered safely and efficiently.
Coordinating subcontractor selection, performance and on-site progress.
Maintaining high standards of quality, health and safety throughout project delivery.
Keeping senior management informed of site progress, programme issues and commercial developments.
Identifying, assessing and mitigating contractual and commercial risks.
Maintaining accurate records of labour, plant, materials and other site resources to support cost control and contractual claims.
Managing variations, additional works and supporting documentation in line with contractual requirements.
Assisting with the preparation and agreement of project final accounts.
Attending site and project meetings, ensuring commercial issues are raised, investigated and resolved promptly.
Monitoring project performance against programme, quality requirements and budgetary targets.
Working collaboratively with internal departments and external partners to overcome challenges and keep projects moving forward.
What We're Looking For
You'll be an experienced construction professional with a solid understanding of structural steel fabrication and erection, alongside the commercial awareness needed to manage contracts effectively.
Ideally, you'll bring:
Previous Contracts Management experience, preferably within a structural steelwork fabricator or specialist steelwork contractor.
At least three years' site experience working within the structural steel industry.
A detailed understanding of structural steel fabrication, erection and associated site activities.
Experience working across a variety of contracts, ideally including high-rise, industrial or commercial projects.
The ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and contractual documentation.
Strong knowledge of subcontractor management, project coordination and site progress monitoring.
Experience managing variations, contractual risks, cost records and final accounts.
A sound understanding of quality, environmental and health and safety standards, including relevant ISO systems and CE marking requirements.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with site teams, clients, subcontractors and senior management.
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively under demanding time, quality and budget constraints.
A conscientious, self-disciplined and proactive approach to problem-solving.
Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
Experience with construction and steelwork software such as StruMIS, AutoCAD, Trimble Connect or Tekla would be advantageous.
What's on Offer?
Salary of €80,000-€100,000, depending on experience.
Company van included in the package.
A permanent, full-time position within an established structural steelwork business.
The opportunity to take ownership of projects and influence site performance, commercial outcomes and delivery standards.
A varied workload involving complex structural steelwork contracts.
The opportunity to develop your career within a business that values technical expertise, quality and teamwork.
