Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Lead - Structural Steel

The Company
This is a structural steel specialist whose fabrication and site teams are working on major infrastructure projects across the UK and further afield. Turnover passed £17m last year, built around Project, Site and Commercial functions from day one, with more hires to come as the work lands. The commercial team is growing to match it, and this role sits right at the centre of that growth.
The Role
- Run the commercial performance of live structural steel projects, from contract award through to completion
- Own cost, value, variations and change, keeping a firm grip on commercial risk throughout
- Report and forecast on project performance, giving the business an honest, current picture
- Work daily alongside project managers, engineers, site teams, clients and subcontractors
- Handle contract administration and lead negotiations that protect the numbers
- Help shape the commercial function as it expands, working directly with the Commercial Director
The Candidate
- Proven experience managing the commercial side of live construction projects, ideally structural steel or a closely related trade
- A track record of running cost, value and variations on projects of real scale, not just admin support
- Confident leading contract negotiations and holding your ground with clients and subcontractors
- Comfortable reporting upward and building relationships with people at every level of a project
