Wirral Council is seeking a dedicated and organised Business Support Officer to join our Children's Services team. In this vital role, you will provide a wide range of administrative support to ensure the effective running of the service and help us deliver excellent care and outcomes for children and families across the borough.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide general office and reception duties including data input, document handling, and diary management
Prepare correspondence, reports, and minutes for meetings and events
Handle financial transactions, petty cash, and procurement processes
Offer administrative support to colleagues, service users, and external agencies
Maintain accurate electronic and paper records and ensure data quality
Assist in booking transport, accommodation, and professional services
Support case file maintenance, statistical reporting, and information systems
What We're Looking For:
Strong administrative and organisational skills
Experience working with databases and Microsoft Office
Ability to manage your own workload, meet deadlines, and work under pressure
Confident communicator, both written and verbal
Knowledge of confidentiality and data handling best practices
Previous experience in business support or administrative roles
Desirable but not essential:
NVQ Level 2/3 in Business Administration or Customer Care
Knowledge of children's services and local authority systems
Minute-taking and event organisation experience
