Job Opportunity: Business Support Officer (Children's Services)
Location: Wirral Council
Pay: £15 per hour
Contract: Full-Time, Temporary (with potential for extension)
Hours: 37 hours per week

Wirral Council is seeking a dedicated and organised Business Support Officer to join our Children's Services team. In this vital role, you will provide a wide range of administrative support to ensure the effective running of the service and help us deliver excellent care and outcomes for children and families across the borough.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide general office and reception duties including data input, document handling, and diary management

  • Prepare correspondence, reports, and minutes for meetings and events

  • Handle financial transactions, petty cash, and procurement processes

  • Offer administrative support to colleagues, service users, and external agencies

  • Maintain accurate electronic and paper records and ensure data quality

  • Assist in booking transport, accommodation, and professional services

  • Support case file maintenance, statistical reporting, and information systems


What We're Looking For:

  • Strong administrative and organisational skills

  • Experience working with databases and Microsoft Office

  • Ability to manage your own workload, meet deadlines, and work under pressure

  • Confident communicator, both written and verbal

  • Knowledge of confidentiality and data handling best practices

  • Previous experience in business support or administrative roles


Desirable but not essential:

  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Business Administration or Customer Care

  • Knowledge of children's services and local authority systems

  • Minute-taking and event organisation experience
