Assistant Project Manager - Commercial Construction - Texas

A well-established commercial construction business in Texas is looking for an Assistant Project Manager who is already taking ownership of real project responsibilities and is ready to continue progressing toward a full Project Manager position.
This is not an entry-level APM role and isn't designed for someone still learning the basics.
The business has a strong preference for developing people internally, making this an opportunity for someone who has already built solid commercial construction experience and is ready for the next stage of their career.
🏗️ What You'll Be Working On
You'll support the delivery of ground-up commercial and industrial construction projects, working closely with project leadership, Superintendents, subcontractors, owners and architects.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Taking ownership of defined project packages
* Managing RFIs and submittals
* Supporting procurement and subcontractor coordination
* Tracking costs and managing change orders
* Working with field teams to keep projects moving
* Communicating with owners, architects and subcontractors
* Taking responsibility for significant elements of project delivery
This is a role where you'll be expected to understand how projects are actually built and managed, not simply keep paperwork moving.

🎯 Who They're Looking For
You should ideally have:
* 3-5 years of commercial construction experience
* Experience with a commercial general contractor
* Ground-up commercial or industrial project experience
* Experience working on projects valued at $5M+
* A degree in Construction Management, Engineering or a related discipline
* Experience with RFIs, submittals, procurement, change orders and cost tracking
* Strong communication skills with owners, architects, subcontractors and field teams
* The ability to work effectively alongside Superintendents
* A clear desire to progress into Project Management

💰 The Package
$100,000-$120,000 base salary, depending on experience
