New Opportunity for a Technical Officer
Charnwood

Looking for an experienced Technical Officer to provide assistance and practical support with regards to all aspects of home improvements and adaptations. You will be required to develop appropriate schemes of adaptations to properties to meet the needs of disabled people in accordance with statutory, Charnwood and Lightbulb policy in consultation with colleagues and partner agencies e.g. Housing Support Coordinators, Occupational Therapists, Builders, and Architects. You will be providing advice and support to customers and colleagues on the technical aspects of carrying out adaptations to properties. The role will also require you to carry out inspections to all stages of work to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards. There will be some aspect of travel involved as you will have to visit customers in their own homes and asses the building for the work that is required, preparing detailed estimates relating to the eligible grants and carry out the detailed surveys.


Essential:

  • HNC Building Construction or Demonstrable experience
  • Experience of working with individuals to identify and resolve problems
  • Managing contractors and successfully undertaking planned work
  • In writing schedules of work and providing sketches/technical drawings Specification preparation
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
  • Knowledge of Housing/Grant Legislation
  • Knowledge of Adaptations
  • Knowledge of building construction


Desirable:

  • MBIAT Member of British Institute of Architectural Technologists
  • Using Computer Aided Design (CAD) or similar software
  • Knowledge of Housing, Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS)
