Principal Building Control Officer
The following to be undertaken under Building Act 1984/ Building Regulations 2010 (as amended) and Other Associated Legislation:
Undertake Site Inspections and Appraisal of Plans for Large and Complex Structures.
Deputise for Manager/ Attend Corporate Meetings
Take Part in Design reviews with Developer/ Architect
Undertake Additional Training for specialist projects, and maintain regular CPD hours
Market Service with Stakeholders and Local Authority Departments
Mentor Junior Surveyors
Attend Dangerous Structures Out Of Hours
Maintain site inspection records using Uniform/ Idox Application
As a Principal Officer you will have management responsibility for professional staff, leading on all types of Building Control projects, and actively pursue opportunities to attract business to the service to maintain and improve the team's market share and to maximise income opportunities in a competitive market.
As a Chartered professional (RICS, CABE, CIOB), you should bring construction industry experience and knowledge of Building Control relating to a wide breadth of buildings, including high rise and sports grounds. You will play an integral role in making pragmatic and value decisions on compliance with Building Regulations and NHBC Standards, driving forward new schemes within the Borough and effectively turn our Vision into reality.
You will contribute to the delivery of an efficient and effective Building Control service for the Borough, including taking decisions of allocated Building Regulation applications, Notices and matters allocated by the Building Control Manager and Head of Planning and Development, enabling the delivery of quality developments in line with legislation, industry performance guidelines and internal targets.
