Neighbourhood Officer
Full-time contract
3-Month contract

All applicants will need a valid and clean driving license.

To promote good practice and encourage public and business compliance with public health measures.
To educate and explain public health guidelines in the public realm and to business operators. To identify and support businesses and premises not following guidelines, escalating as appropriate.
To liaise and give advice, signposting members of the public and businesses to relevant legislation and government guidance in a courteous manner ensuring that the Council's customer care policy is adhered to at all times.
To promote a range of public health messages and initiatives to residents and businesses To attend tasking meetings and report daily activity and intelligence and information from daily visits using appropriate methods. To maintain agreed performance targets and to meet the requirements of relevant performance.
To direct pedestrians and managing pedestrian one-way systems and guide pedestrians through exit and entry points where necessary.
To check and promote the visibility of public health messaging and signage.
To hand out face coverings, hand sanitiser and other materials where supplied.
To engage with residents and visitors to encourage compliance with public health measures and to encourage participation in Council initiatives designed to protect residents and communities.
To distribute and explain supporting material to businesses on how they can best comply with legislation and good practice across the range of Environmental Health, Trading Standards and Licensing functions To visit business premises to offer advice and guidance on how to operate safely and promote positive health in accordance legislation, guidance and best practice.
To persuade businesses to comply with government guidelines in relation to operating safely, data collection as necessary, the use of relevant phone apps and assist them in overcoming any perceived barriers To promote relevant projects as directed.
To use appropriate methods to report activity and escalate concerns to Compliance Officers, for further action.
To detail and report queries to Compliance Officers, for further support using equipment provided.
To report any vandalism, graffiti and any environmental and community safety problems and act as the 'eyes and ears' of the Police and Council.
To liaise with the Police as necessary.
To undertake any training and development as required.
Work flexibly to include split shifts and regular weekend, bank holidays, evening and night work. Be highly motivated Have good communication skills
