Housing Support Officer
£12 per hour
Part Time Contract

We are seeking a Housing Support Officer to provide a comprehensive housing support service to residents with identified support needs. To enable the residents to manage their home and to encourage and facilitate the residents' independence, quality of life, health and well-being.

Main responsibilities include:-

  • To take responsibility for a designated caseload of Housing Support clients requiring support.
  • To assist with their life skills, money management, social skills and health/well-being in order to promote their independence and successfully sustain their home.
  • To assess individual potential clients' support needs and to liaise with statutory and non-statutory/voluntary agencies, where appropriate, to negotiate and agree their participation in supporting the individual.
  • To provide a comprehensive need led support package that is designed to maximise independence as quickly as possible.
  • To be available to advocate in matters relating to the client (e.g. Housing Benefit advice, anti-social behaviour, arrears advice etc.) and to actively involve Housing Managers and Income Officers.
  • To assist the clients with security and safety matters within their home and provide assistance in arranging repair services, identifying and support needs and arranging services such as adaptations' Home Call service etc.

Key Skills and Requirements include:-

  • This post is subject to the DBS/CRB checking process.
  • Appropriate Level 3 Qualification (i.e. A Levels, HNCB/NVQ 3).
  • Experience supporting vulnerable clients in a housing environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally & in writing to a wide range of people.
  • Ability to organise own workload to meet targets and deadlines.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
