Community Protection Officer
£18 per hour
Full Time Contract

We are seeking a Community Protection Officer to investigate, manage and effectively resolve cases of anti-social behaviour and nuisance relating to all premises. The role involves using appropriate and timely intervention to resolve complaints at the earliest opportunity, identifying high priority cases involving raised risk and vulnerability and ensure interventions and prevention techniques with a victim centred approach are appropriately applied, taking the appropriate and proportionate enforcement actions in accordance with policy, and provide a practical and professional, customer focused response to issues referred to the team for action. Access to own car and full driving licence is essential for this position.

Key Skills and Requirements include:-

  • Understanding & appreciation of the high profile and sensitive nature of Community Protection activities with the ability and application to acquire the practical and theoretical knowledge and skills sufficient to effectively carry out duties commensurate with the post.
  • Demonstrable experience of gathering of evidence and preparation of case files, prosecution files or other court applications. Including witness statements, used to represent the council in legal proceedings or other formal processes such as public enquiries and committees.
  • Understanding and the ability to develop creative problem-solving responses, working collaboratively with other enforcement teams and partners, taking into consideration all legislation and tools that are available; to not only provide solutions but help prevent issues from reoccurring. This includes but is not limited to restorative justice, mediation, statutory notices, fixed penalty notices, community protection notices (CPNs)
  • A relevant qualification or demonstrable experience of delivering services relating to Environmental Health, Antisocial Behaviour or Nuisance.
